Getting married? Need help with ceremony song ideas?
Planning a wedding can be overwhelming at times with so much to think about and you probably have so many questions you want answers to but don’t know where to go. Well hopefully, I can help with one of the most popular questions I get asked from Bride & Grooms to be.
Do you have any Ceremony Song Ideas?
The reason this is such a hard choice for many people is because there are literally millions of songs to choose from! So it’s pretty hard to narrow it down but I have compiled a list of songs that I have performed at recent wedding ceremonies which I felt were very beautiful and fitting for such an occasion.
There are 3 main parts of a typical wedding ceremony that require music.
1: Bridal Processional (walking the aisle)
2: Signing of the Register.
3: Bride and Groom Recessional (walking back up the aisle)
BRIDAL PROCESSIONAL SONG IDEAS
Some people choose to have one song for the bridesmaids and then a different song for the bride. I usually find it flows better with just one song to be honest but either way, this is probably the hardest choice for a Bride when it comes to ceremony song ideas.
A Thousand Years – Christina Perri
Not only is it a lovely song with romantic lyrics but many Twilight lovers choose this song as it featured in Breaking Dawn Part 1. If it’s good enough for Edward and Bella then I guess it’s good enough to make this list!
Perfect – Ed Sheeran
It’s no secret that I am a big fan of Ed and I’m lucky I get to perform his songs every week as many of them are seemingly written for weddings! “Perfect” is no exception, with the lyrics “When I saw you in that dress, looking so beautiful…” it works great as a ceremony procession song but also as a Bridal Waltz (First Dance)
Marry Me – Train
Need I say more? Despite the obvious song title, it’s actually a very nicely written song and I love Patrick Monoahan’s voice in this too. Definitely worth checking out.
Take My Hand (The Wedding Song) – Emily Hackett & Will Anderson
Another one clearly written for a wedding. It is also another great song with meaningful lyrics.
Marry You – Bruno Mars
Not as slow and romantic as the other choices but this would be a good choice for couples who want to kick start their ceremony with a nice upbeat mood.
SIGNING OF THE REGISTER SONG IDEAS
This is just to keep your guests entertained while you do the legal paper work.
It’s best to have two songs lined up just incase one is not long enough to cover this.
Better Together – Jack Johnson
You can’t really go wrong with a bit of Jack Johnson at a wedding and this song is probably his most mainstream love song. A very popular choice.
I’m Yours – Jason Mraz
A very nice, happy tune. A real feel good, summer love song.
Stuck On You – Lionel Richie
A great classic that everyone knows but not everybody thinks of for their wedding. This should please all generations.
All Of Me – John Legend
This is another very popular choice. A great piano/vocal by John Legend but it also works well on the acoustic guitar.
Dream Catch Me – Newton Faulkner
This has been a consistent song choice since it’s release in 2007. A very uplifting acoustic guitar/vocal song which has slotted in perfectly with my repertoire.
BRIDE AND GROOM RECESSIONAL
The idea is to have something upbeat and a little louder now too as the cheers and applause from your family and friends, coupled with a good song choice, will feel like something from the movies for you.
All You Need Is Love – The Beatles
If it was me performing this, I would start from the first verse, cut the second verse out so we get into the chorus as you approach the end of the aisle. This song works very well and is a classic everyone will know.
Ho Hey – The Lumineers
I would come straight in with “I belong with you, you belong with me, you’re my sweetheart” This ticks all the right boxes for an excellent recession song.
You’re My Best Friend – Queen
This one sums up how every married couple feel about each other. Also another classic that all ages can sing along to.
I’m A Believer – The Monkees
Shrek and Fiona had a version of this at their wedding! I have performed this one many times but it never gets old. It also never fails to put people in a good mood.
Sign Sealed Delivered – Stevie Wonder
Here is another very popular choice. It works so well because you would have both literally just signed and sealed your marriage and delivered to your guests for a standing ovation.
I really hope this list has helped you with your ceremony song ideas and I wish you all the best with your wedding.
